Love my HAPI drum travel bag. It fits the drum well. And there is room for mallets.
Ever since I bought my first HAPI Drum I have been in love with both the company and sound of the unique instrument. I've always wanted to do line in recording for the HAPI Drum but have never found a suitable microphone to do the job. The Duoflex microphone works well in the sense of the quality of sound, but there are a couple of issues I have had, but nothing that tweaking can't fix. Mic placement isn't the easiest to assemble, and all the amps that I have used so far have a lot of feedback at a high volume (it has to be low in volume unless if it is a keyboard microphone, but bass and guitar amps have feedback issues), if you don't have a keyboard mic, as long as you are far away from the amp there isn't really a feedback issue. For line in recording, you need to use a Pre Amp and you will most likely need the xlr to 1/4" adapter. I would recommend using a focusrite usb audio interface for the best quality. A cheap audio adapter has a lot of static and I would recommend spending the extra cash for quality. I absolutely recommend this microphone for anyone that wants to use the HAPI Drum live, and if you are using this for recording, just know that you will need additional accessories like a pre-amp as a power source for recording, but I still recommend this product!
Great bag! Fits the drum very well. Wish it had an adjustable strap and a pocket or tabs for the mallets.
Just what I needed. Thanks.
This is a nifty product, and might meet your needs. I went through a lot of hassle to find a way to incorporate it into my uses. First of all, it is slightly difficult to install in a tunable hapi drum because the magnets want to grab the battery. This also makes tuning my drum a bit of a struggle because I have to get my fingers under the mic, and there is not a lot of wiggle room. Plugging into a headphone amp, guitar amp, and bass amp only gave me headaches and frustration. No one wants to project feedback. Apparently keyboard amps are the only solution outside plugging into a mixing board. These are often large, a/c powered, and expensive. My specific requirements were for busking, and as a musician without a huge sum of money, I felt cheated and misled in the information I was given regarding devices into which it could be plugged. If you are only going to use the mic in your hapi drum, it seems worthwhile for its specific design, but I would not recommend pulling it in and out of the drum on a regular basis. There is potential for damage and it is something you have to wrangle to fit. Also, retightening the nut is a pain, and can scratch the drum. Seems like there should be a rubber washer to prevent this. It sounds very clear, if and when you find an appropriate amplifier. Nice touches are the included bag for the cords, as well as the notch on the volume control which tells you it is in the center. Do your research and realize that you can't necessarily plug and play
