This dige is everything and more as advertised and is easier to play and better sounding than my bamboo dige. I am now getting the circular breathing figured out on this beautiful instrument!
This is my second order from TDS. I also have the travel collapsible plastic model. So ordered this one based on my success with the other model for students and ease of carrying around. This Model: The keys are accurate and range from A# to F. I've been wanting this option for a long time to carry less & have more keys to play in with other musicians. Plus it's light weight and almost impossible to break. The wood pro slider didge's elsewhere are nice, but let's get practical: They are quite expensive, and require gasket replacement fairly often and maintenance kits. Unless it's for a "proper" studio environment...this model will suffice for most average gigs just as well & sounds fine. In fact, the subtleties of authentic termite hollowed instruments get lost anyhow when you are playing live with other musicians. Only soloing will really allow you to hear true subtle advanced technique in most live settings with other instruments. For well under $100 USD, I got a model that sounds FAR better than I expected it to! It has the typical response of a PVC or plastic model with a 'somewhat' bigger boar than many synthetics and a large bell at the end....so the bass is quite excellent in comparison to many other synthetics. I've been playing close to 20 years....so I can be a harsh critic - as I own many varying instruments in my collection. But for the price of this, you simply can't go wrong! I'd recommend it to beginners, students, and pro's alike. You'll all get a good experience out of it. Beginners will like it's ease to play and better responsiveness than smaller synthetics. Pros and more advanced players will LOVE the ability to switch keys on command, with the ability to do some very nice note bending still. Having it start at a true low A instead of A# might be nice. But that's nitpicking now isn't it? Also because it's lower price point, I have no problem carrying it around anywhere for random playing experiences. You tend NOT to do this with a $1,500.00 authentic instrument. So I now find myself playing with more people randomly and really enjoying it. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, was the seal where the bell connects was not fully sealed and leaked, so I had to buy some epoxy to seal it up properly. Not the end of the world. Do yourself a favor.....just order one.
This Didge Box is super light and compact yet produces a great sound. It's also very well constructed and the wood is beautifully polished. A must have for anyone who wants a great travel sized Didge!
I often ride a motorcycle or travel by air so I needed a performance quality didgeridoo that carried compact. I was a bit skeptical at the claims vs. the price point. Surprisingly, this didj can hold its own at any performance event. Tuning is very smooth and easy, great volume and articulation. If you are considering the purchase, just do it!
