Our Intro Handpans have the same amazing sound quality as our Pro Handpans. They just have a more rustic, less polished finish.
This is our best value for beginner Handpan players. Made from heat treated steel. All the notes are tuned with a fundamental, octave and fifth harmonic for a rich sound. Each Handpan has a beautiful bloom, the top note excites the side notes into ringing. This increases the harmonic tones.
Our handpans are made with thousands upon thousands of precision hammer blows. Each is hand worked, and carefully tuned with a strobe tuner. Please allow for maker marks in handmade instruments like this. It is part of the normal process in the hammering and tuning (each is made by Grahm Doe, in Oakhurst, California) and is unique.
Our handpans have held the tuning very well over the last few years and the vast majority have not needed a retune. When/if the day comes that you may need a retune (accidents happen) your first retune is free. Shipping costs to and from our shop in Oakhurst, CA are not included. Please allow around 1 week for service.
Handpan 8 Note Sequoia Scale:
Sequoia Scale (derived from F Major): The top center note is F3. Side notes from lowest to highest are A3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4. The bottom Udu tone is tuned to F2. The bottom shell is tuned to E5. F Major Sequoia scale does not include the Bb of the full scale. The Bb normally adds a touch of sorrow to the scale. Like the giant trees of its name this scale feels full of peace and joy. Calm, happy and thankful feelings emerge as you flow through the scale. Many of Beethoven’s works are in F major. Without the Bb the scale is comprised of all whole notes and is very compatible with other instruments. Octaves of F3, F4 and A3, A4 are found in the scale adding harmonic sharing and harmonious overlapping of the notes.
Handpan 8 Note El Capitan Scale:
El Capitan Scale (derived from D Minor). The top center note is D3. Side notes from lowest to highest are A3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4. The bottom Udu tone is tuned to F2. The bottom shell is tuned to E5. D Minor El Capitan scale does not include the Bb of the full scale. The Bb normally adds a touch of sorrow to the scale. In this version you get an uplifting feeling by playing one 1/2 of the instrument while the other 1/2 has a more meditative feel. It's wonderful to have a scale that can express so much emotional range in one instrument. Without the Bb the scale is comprised of all whole notes and is very compatible with other instruments. The center Ding note is quite low at D3 and provides nice contrast to the higher notes around the perimeter. Octaves of D3, D4 and A3, A4 are found in the scale adding harmonic sharing and harmonious overlapping of the notes.
Handpan 9 Note El Capitan D Minor Scale:
The 9 note version of the El Capitan Scale has the same feel as the 8 note but with an added high note of C5. This expands the voice range of the instrument to include an angelic high voiced tone. The higher note is also the octave above the standard C4 note on the 8 note. This makes for a total of three pairs of octave notes on this scale in D3, D4, A3, A4 and C4, C5. Octaves are the most harmonically compatible of any pairing. This makes for even more harmonic sharing and wonderful overtones to enjoy. The full scale is D3 top, A3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4, and C5. Our 9 note compact 21 inch shell makes reaching all the tone fields easier compared to a larger shell size.
Handpan Dimensions:
Measures 21 inches across (33cm), 9.5 inches tall (24cm). Weighs only 8.5lbs (3.85kg). Fits comfortably in the lap for playing.
Included is our FREE Handpan hard case.
Made from durable nylon with padded foam. It has an easy carry handle. Simple to open and close with our unique rubber latch system. The handpan shell and tone fields do not come in contact with the hard case. This creates an ideal buffer zone around the handpan. The handpan is supported by its outer edge (rubber ring). This hard case fits inside our optional armored backpack for the ultimate protection.

the sound and resonance is absolutely great. I am still learning its
particular playing techniques due to the individual work of sound art
that it is. I own and have played many others, and your pan is the one
that I will use for creative meditation. The sound is open, and all
